Planning

Historical summary based on the former Our work section, not a verbatim copy.

Land-use decisions were central to the Commission's view of sustainable development. It argued that planning should consider environmental limits, quality of places, public need and the long-term effects of infrastructure.

Under the Planning Act 2008, the Commission was consulted on national policy statements for major infrastructure. It also advised on wider planning policy, but did not decide individual local applications.
